What Is Sculptra®?

Sculptra® is different from typical facial fillers that add substances like synthetic hyaluronic acid to replace volume from lost collagen in the skin. Instead, Sculptra® injections trigger natural collagen production to create firmer, volumized skin. The main ingredient in Sculptra® is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which is a medical grade polymer, a substance that has been used in medical products for many decades. When injected deep into the skin, the PLLA in Sculptra® stimulates collagen production in the skin and fat pads of the face. This creates firmer skin and a more youthful appearance.

The Difference

Sculptra® injections do not create instant volume like hyaluronic acid facial fillers. PLLA triggers collagen production that will appear in the weeks after each treatment. Most patients benefit from at least two Sculptra® treatments spaced a few weeks apart. Over a few months, the treatment areas become smoother and more supple. The results look natural, as it is your own collagen creating the volume, not a filler. Sculptra® can reduce the appearance of nasolabial folds, marionette lines, sagging jowls/jawline and sunken cheeks.
