What is CO2?

Laser skin treatments, like carbon dioxide (CO2) laser, have been used to exfoliate and refresh the skin, and remove dead, damaged, and discolored cells. CO2 laser resurfacing treatments utilize light energy to vaporize the surface skin cells. The light energy from the laser device is released in short bursts at a specific wavelength.

The Procedure

The procedure is performed with a topical anesthetic applied to limit any discomfort. The treatment is minimally invasive, but requires some downtime. The skin will be red and inflamed for several days after the treatment as it heals from the ablation.
