Hyaluronic acid is naturally occurring in the body, adding plumpness to the skin and lubricating joints, eyes and other areas. Hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane®, Belotero® and Juvederm® are injected under the skin, then the acid slowly breaks down over several months or longer. Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that can dissolve hyaluronic acid faster when the results from cosmetic procedures are undesirable.
